New Allotment is an audio production company specialising in podcasts, with a passion for sustainability
We produce shows for ourselves and others, and can help you get your podcast project off the ground or developed further.
New Allotment was set up in spring 2021 and is a joint venture between award-winning editor, journalist and podcaster Greg Cochrane, and Stuart Stubbs, founder and editor of the independent music title Loud And Quiet.
We’ve already launched successful podcast series like Words So Leisured: The Story of Franz Ferdinand, Midnight Chats, Music Made Me Do It and Sounds Like A Plan, as well as working with artists and label on Music + Talk shows for Spotify.
Our company name is a reference to our vision – to work with a community of creators with an overarching sustainable vision, each with their own space to create something individual.
Sustainability informs the decisions we make – from who hosts this website to the organisations we bank with, to travel to recording sessions, and beyond.

Words so Leisured: The Story of Franz Ferdinand
In this 4-part documentary series, narrated by comedian Rose Matafeo, Franz Ferdinand chart their meteoric raise in the early 2000s and the ups and downs of a career that’s followed, with the help of those who’ve been there, their friends and collaborators, including Sparks and Brandon Flowers from The Killers.
Music Made Me Do It
Unpacking how the music industry works one inspirational story at a time, each episode of Music Made Me Do It focuses on a prominent trailblazer in their field, from Oscar winning producer Paul Epworth to founder of the biggest independent record label in the world, Martin Mills of Beggars Group. Commissioned by and in collaboration with Dreamteam Music.
Midnight Chats has become the flagship podcast of Loud And Quiet magazine, receiving over half a million streams. Launched in 2016, the late-night interview podcast with artists of note has attracted guests including Karen O, Tame Impala, Mike Skinner, Johnny Marr, Graham Coxon, Mac DeMarco, Kojey Radical, Ray BLK and Laura Marling.
Recorded in front of a live audience over 4 nights at London’s Sound Gallery, each episode of Sweet 16 welcomes a different musical guest to reminisce about that pivotal year of adolescence. Recalling their past hopes and dreams in series 1 were Joe Talbot from Idles, Metronomy‘s Joseph Mount, Warpaint‘s Theresa Wayman and Hot Chip‘s Alexis Taylor.
Sounds Like A Plan
The first in our New Allotment originals series, Sounds Like A Plan dives into the most urgent issue facing our planet right now and looks at how the music community is tackling climate change. Hosted by journalist Greg Cochrane and musician and activist Fay Milton, each episode chats to a name in the music world taking positive action in increasingly inspiring ways.
Spotify Music + Talk
For the first time, Spotify’s new Music + Talk shows allow you to make podcasts that include not only talking but also… well… music. Ideal for shows by artists and labels celebrating their music, we’ve produced specials and tracks-by-tracks commentaries for acts including The Vaccines and Anna B Savage. Get in touch to discuss the full potential of making Music + Talk shows.
